Bangkok, Thailand: Cultural Buffs and Shoppers’ Paradise

Float past the hodgepodge of wooden houses and thriving businesses of river folks as you make your way down the Thai river banks and past swaying fronds of local villages. Then, as you stand in awe in front of the Buddhist Temple of Dawn named after the God of the rising sun, harness the singleness of a mind at peace as you stand in between the tower corners said to symbolise the gods of the four directions. Find your blessings before this Khmer-style tower or alternatively, upon the four faces of Buddha as you stand amongst the dancers of the Erawan Shrine bestowing their blessings at a small fee. Weave in and out of Thai sois that lead you to the Emporium Shopping Centre offering escape from the tropical weather as one of Bangkok’s major mall captivates your sights and senses with high-end brands stacked within its seven floors of shopping heaven.

Reviews

Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) received TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice 2013 award and is ranked 2nd out of 222 attractions in Bangkok, while Erawan Shrine (Thao Mahaprom Shrine) is ranked 33rd out of 222 attractions in Bangkokon TripAdvisor.

Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun): Wat Arun maybe is not one of the most visited temples in Bangkok, but it should be. It has a distinctive style than most of the other teamples around. besides that, from its top it’s possible to have a panoramic view of old Bangkok including the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. During the night it’s full of light making it even more beautiful. – Oct 6, 2013

Erawan Shrine (Thao Mahaprom Shrine): It’s a lively place shrine with music and dancers performing on behalf the requester to thank San Phra Phrom for granting the requester’s wishes that came true. – Aug 19, 2013

Emporium Shopping Centre: Emporium is a classy higher-end mall with lots of effort made to make it feel special compared to other malls in Bangkok. There is a good choice of shops and some nice restaurants, and its right next to Phrom Phong skytrain. – Jun 22, 2013
