Floating Wares and Ways

Insomniacs and slumbering brethren are relieved of sleeping obligations, as guests are picked up from hotel residences before departing for Mae Klong Railway Market. Further shopping needs are satiated with visits to DamnoenSaduak floating market to peruse wares that include local cuisine, spices, fruits, vegetables, souvenirs, and more, before being delivered back to doorsteps in time for afternoon siestas or fiestas.

We were in for the adventure only so we didn’t buy anything but the boatman stopped at each stall nonetheless. You can buy almost anything you want here from souvenirs to clothes to fruits, local delicacies. hot food, noodles, even a souvenir photo with 2 big snakes, a visit to a temple, etc.The water traffic was amusing and awesome! Highly recommended! – Aug 2, 2013

There were lots of beautiful items on sale on both sides of the canal, but you have to haggle for the price. Food & drinks were also being sold. If you’re taking the boat without the roof, it’s advisable to wear a hat & put on some sunblock. – Aug 21, 2013

For the next 30 minutes ride along the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, I truly appreciated this visit because it was all about life and living for these hardworking Thai people. The noise , yelling, shouting out and helping each other , chatting and laughing loudly as they passed by seemed so natural, so sincere and most of all, their positive attitudes towards a life with no luxuries but simplicity. I really enjoyed the sight of everything that was going on at this river of life. – Apr 13, 2012.
